Little Servant Sisters of The Immaculate Conception, D/B/A Edmund Early Childhood Education Center, is seeking a full-time Religious Education Coordinator and Instructor in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The position involves developing and implementing the religious education curriculum and program. The coordinator will provide children with knowledge and understanding of the faith as witnessed in the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. The curriculum will be based on the six tasks of catechesis: promoting knowledge of the faith, liturgical education, moral formation, teaching to pray, education for community life, and missionary initiation. The coordinator will also plan realistic goals for children and develop the religious education curriculum.
Plan and implement religious education activities based on developmentally appropriate practice and preschool grade level indicators. Understand the psychological development, developmental abilities, limitations, and age of children as it relates to planning and implementing religious education-based curriculum. Implement developmentally appropriate religious activities for children in subjects such as religion, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, music, art, and gross motor development. Complete religious assessments for each child at least twice a year. Create an individual child religious portfolio for each child. Supervise children, observe and evaluate each child’s religious progress throughout the year, and provide information to each child’s parents during conferences twice a year. Maintain the classroom and center in a religious environment. Work with other staff at the center and parents of each child to maintain
Positive and productive relationships with children, families, and staff are essential. Members should also uphold sound religious values and attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field, or its foreign equivalent.
The annual salary is $43,080, plus five paid days off.
